Bringing Back This Nifty Fifties Toaster!

About 4 years ago my sister in laws parents had a neighbor who passed away. The nieces and nephews of the dearly departed woman were doing a total clean sweep of her home. It was rather sad though, seeing this happen- as they literally threw her old wedding albums away in the trash... memories meant nothing to them.
I am a sentimental person though, and when the woman's nieces and nephews told us we could pick through her things before they were thrown out, I of course took it upon myself to see what hidden gems I could find before the garbage man found them. I came across this toaster, and was so excited to see it that I nearly giggled out loud! I am in love with retro kitchy things. A 50's themed kitchen has always been a dream of mine, and when I saw this toaster, I figured... OK--- so maybe it is not an entire 1950's kitchen... but it is a start! A retro, a gem... semi space aged looking, only with that retro flair you could only find in the 50's.

The toaster also has an original rope cord, which I am sure is a fire hazard, but I only plug it in when I am present, and am using it.

I picked it up covered in layers of ancient grime and dust... the dang thing even had remnants of the old lady's toast in it... but naturally this did not deter me. I saw it at that time for what it could be, with just a little polish and TLC.

So last night I found the toaster in a packing box and decided to finally clean it up, polish it up and let it shine once again in my kitchen!
